Audition Dates

Friday, June 23 7:00PM-10:00PM

Saturday, June 24 10:00AM-4:30PM

**You must make an appointment via email to be seen for auditions. Walk-ins are not available, as spots fill up quickly and we send you specific material to audition with. Please find the link for submission guidelines at the bottom of this page. You will be called for a specific block of time within the hours listed above. If there are any times you won't be available on either day, please include that in your audition request email.

 

Callback Information

Callbacks, if necessary, will happen on Sunday June 25 from 5:00PM-9:00PM. If you audition on Friday, you may potentially be called back on Saturday. You will receive a phone call or email should a callback audition be required.

Production Info

Full Company Meeting: July 15

Regular Rehearsals Begin: August 21

​Normal rehearsals will primarily run Sunday and Tuesday-Thursday evenings. Attendance is imperative for the entire rehearsal period and too many absences will unfortunately not be accepted. If you are not able to make the commitment to our busy schedule, we ask that you please refrain from submitting an audition. We appreciate your consideration prior to requesting an appointment. If you have any other inquiries regarding the schedule, feel free to reach out; we're more than happy to answer any questions you have!

 

Required Rehearsals

Cast tech period & previews (October 1-12), performances (October 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29), a brush-up rehearsal (October 19), and a production strike (October 29 after the final performance) are all required dates for show participation and will be held at the Slayton House Theater in Columbia, MD. No conflicts will be accepted for the aforementioned dates. An agreement will be issued for all individuals cast to sign abiding to these days and times.

 

We also ask that you please refrain from auditioning if you are already fully committed to another project that conflicts with the rehearsal schedule, as well as performance and strike dates. Individuals with any major projects overlapping will not be considered for this production.

We are in search of a multi-talented comic cast of actors, singers, and dancers for this exciting musical production. We will be casting around 20 individuals.

 

Wade 'Cry Baby' Walker [Male, 18 to 25]

The leader of the Baltimore gang known as the 'Drapes'. A misunderstood teen who acts like a rebel, but has a sensitive side. Vocal range: B2-Bb4

 

Allison Vernon-Williams [Female, 18 to 25]

An intelligent and beautiful “good girl”-- She is a square, but wants to be a Drape. Vocal range: E3-Gb5

 

Mrs. Cordelia Vernon-Williams [Female, 45 to 65]

Allison's protective Grandmother. She keeps many secrets from the other characters. Comedic. Vocal range: C3-Db5

 

Baldwin Blandish [Male, 18 to 25]

Allison's Boyfriend who is an enthusiastic square. He is the lead singer of a group called "The Whiffles" and has strong opinions on politics. Vocal range:C3-G4

Dupree W. Dupree [Male, 18 to 25]

Cry Baby’s best friend and a drape. He is always energetic and positive. Vocal range: B2-B4

 

Pepper Walker [Female, 16 to 25]

Cry Baby's tough sister. She is a drape and pregnant for the third time. Vocal range: A3-Eb5

 

Wanda Woodward [Female, 16 to 25]

A Drape who just wants to be Jane Mansfield. There are many rumors circulating about her, but she is really a sincere and 'pure' girl. Vocal range: A3-E5

 

Mona "Hatchet-Face" Malnorowski [Female, 16 to 25]

A Drape that many others fear. She always carries around a switchblade and is not to be messed with. Vocal range: A3-E5

 

Lenora Frigid [Female, 16 to 25​]

Desperately wants to be a Drape. She is in love with Cry Baby. Vocal range: F#3-Gb5

 

The Whiffles [Male, 16-25]

Baldwin's doo-wop group and best friends. They want to have a hit on the radio. Vocal range: G2-D4
